Salon duc Tape – Cheaper, Better, and Faster to 100% – March 27th, 2020

Why solar, wind, and electric cars are a perfect match

In late 2018, the Platte River Power Authority – which provides electricity to Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, and Estes Park – committed to generating 100% “non-carbon” electricity by 2030. Achieving that goal will require changes in how we use electricity, in addition to making changes in how our electricity is produced.

At the salon on March 27th, Ken Regelson of EnergyShouldBe.org will describe how electric cars can help our region meet the 100% non-carbon/renewable goal. He writes that “Lots of electric cars will help speed the development of lots of renewables. And lots of renewables could enable inexpensive E-car charging. If we can get the planning and policy right, we can have it all.”

Ken’s superpower is presenting complex topics in a clear and engaging way to audiences with all experience levels - energy nerds to regular folk. He has a master’s degree in electrical engineering, along with 20 years of experience in the policy, analysis, and practice of renewables. For five years, Ken was a policy analyst at the state capitol and Public Utilities Commission representing Colorado’s solar installers. He has given dozens of technical and general audience talks.
